Excalibur offers high-efficiency iron, sulfur, and manganese removal filtration systems for commercial applications using standard controls for 1”, 1.25”, 1.5”, 2”, and 3” simplex, twin alternating, duplex alternating, and multi-tank configurations. These systems are most often used to filter iron content from water, but they work in such a way as to reduce the concentration of both manganese and sulfur in treated water.
Iron is present in some proportion in most groundwater sources and prevents other treatment components from operating properly. A common application for iron filters is in preparing water for commercial boilers, where feedwater iron content should be less than 20 ppb. At higher concentrations, iron can quickly falls out of solution and stick to surfaces causing scaling and fouling. It can also plug filters and plumbing and foul Reverse Osmosis membranes. When in contact with boiler tubes, it causes fouling that inhibits heat transfer and boiler efficiency. These systems also remove hydrogen sulfide, which has an objectionable odor and is highly corrosive, as well as other metals that can compromise plumbing and RO membranes. Cooling Towers and post-process remediation systems are also sensitive to high levels of iron. Excalibur’s iron filters reduce the iron concentration to appropriate levels.
Multi-tank configurations with 1” to 2” control valves utilize the Excalibur System Controller, enabling a wide variety of applications offering single-train or dual-train systems up to a total of 8 vessels for iron, sulfur, and manganese filtration applications.
Systems with 2″ high flow or 3″ control valves feature custom, built-in programming and support up to 16-vessel multi-tank configurations.
Multi-tank configurations using the Excalibur System Controller, 2” high flow, or 3” control valves offer four options for system programming operation: progressive flow, alternator, random, and series, providing flexible solutions for your commercial water treatment requirements.

Excessive levels of iron, sulfur, and manganese are prevalent in well water supplies causing water quality issues with industrial process water applications or pre-treatment requirements.
A separate oxidizer is required prior to Excalibur Water Systems’ industrial iron, sulfur, and manganese filtration. Depending on the different types and levels needed for filtration, some of the most common oxidizers utilized are air, chlorine, potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide, and ozone.
